Cal Combs is an odd bird. There aren't very many artists that one could compare him to. For starters, Cal is a dedicated English teacher, whose first initiative in the profession was building a safe-space recording studio in the school he first completed his student teaching work in as an undergrad. He lives in Tokyo and has traveled to several different countries, he's worked as a newspaper reporter in New York, a cook in a pub, a tutor for students with disabilities, a dishwasher, and even an arcade chaperone. Somehow in the midst of it all he has created powerful and inspirational music that has even saved the lives of some of his students. More or less we don't know how to categorize Cal Combs, so we just let the music speak for itself.
